Young Man Shot At Bus Stop At Venice & Beethoven

As Twittered while the crime was in progress, a group of five male Hispanics approached two other male Hispanic brothers that were waiting at a bus stop at Venice & Beethoven with their bikes. The group of five asked, “Where you from” - a common gang provocation … and the two replied ” We don’t play that around here “. One of the men in the group of five then pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and shot the victim in the side of his leg. The suspect was described as male Hispanic, mid 20′s wearing a baggy grey shirt, black pants and a black baseball cap.

The group fled on foot, and the gun was discarded and recovered near Lyceum. The victim was taken to Marina Del Rey Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. Several suspects were detained but no arrests have been made. It is believed the suspects fled the area immediately.

Another Rash Of Daytime Burglaries in Mar Vista Area

The LAPD recently reported that there was a rash of daytime burglaries in the Palms and Mar Vista areas. This trend has continued, and over the past week there were 5 additional daytime burglaries in the Mar VIsta Area. The borders for this area are Venice BL (South), Lincoln BL (West), Rose Ave (North) and Centinela Ave (East). LAPD is reminding all area residents to ensure that you lock all of your doors and windows and immediately report any suspicious activity to LAPD Pacific Division.

If you have any information regarding these burglaries please contact Sergeant Steve Ramos at (310) 482-6471.

Tip: Captain Peters and Lt. Bert spoke at the last CPAB meeting and ask that residents be careful to lock all doors and windows… and if you are home during the day, occasionally look outside and around your area for suspicious vehicles. If you see a car that is out of place in your neighborhood, make a habit of writing down the license plate. If a crime does occur it may be helpful, and amazingly many burglars are caught through reports of suspicious vehicles by plate number.
