Criminal street gangs in LA call their form of organized home burglary “floccin”, and in many instances once long-time rival gangs have joined forces to burglarize homes. Their target: The West Side of Los Angeles. Why? They are pretty much guaranteed to get a MacBook Pro. In the first of a two part series by FoxLA 11 - see how LAPD is trying to combat this new highly organized crime gang.

It’s still not clear to me exactly what “flocking” is, as opposed to other kinds of robbery. Does it involve social media coordination, à la flash mobs? Does it distinguish one-person crime from that committed by groups?
Flocking refers to organized burglaries perpetrated by gangs. When they work together in groups they get in and out faster, use various vehicles and get a larger haul usually. Big business for LA gangs.
Got it. Doesn’t make me any happier, but at least I can define it now. And BTW, thanks so much for Venice 311. It’s a true community service.
We were burglarized two years ago. The cops found some of our belongings two weeks later in an apartment of what they said was a gang member. It was horribly unnerving to the point that we decided to move to another apartment. They seemed to like the peninsula and hit several places across a few days from what the cops told us.
