UPDATE: LAPD Media Relations just told me that LAPD is presenting the case against the two men arrested in Oscar Duncan’s murder tomorrow to the District Attorney and a formal release of information and/or press conference will happen either tomorrow afternoon or Wednesday regarding suspect/arrestee information, and additional details associated with the case.
LAPD announced the arrest of two suspects today in the slaying of Oscar Duncan, a local Venice youth pastor. More arrests may be pending. A formal announcement is scheduled for later this afternoon. The shooting, which happened one week ago was suspected as a gang shooting. Witnesses reported that the men in the vehicle that shot at Oscar shouted out the name of a local gang. Rumors had spread during the week that it was an outside gang that came to Venice in retaliation towards a local gang from a prior altercation, and they assumed that Oscar, living in that particular gang neighborhood was a member of the local gang. Nothing has been confirmed but clarification is expected later today. Oscar Duncan was in no way affiliated with gangs, and worked to lead local and Los Angeles area youth in a more positive direction. The shooters just picked the wrong victim.
A funeral service will be held for Oscar Duncan this Friday, June 15th at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church at 685 Westminster Ave. All are welcome to attend.

LAPD has worked diligently in finding the suspects In this tragic homicide. Let’s all work towards the speedy trial of the individuals arrested, and a fair trial, that unfortunately guilty or not, will not bring Oscar back. God bless his Family in these trying times. Give them consolation in knowing that he was at true man of god, and a good human being.
