Muscle Beach amps up Memorial Day in Venice! Promoter and Venice legend Joe Wheatley calls it “the Worlds Greatest Outdoor Bodybuilding Show ON EARTH!” as Venice celebrates the weekend with the traditional bodybuilding kick-off to Summer! The beach will be packed! LAPD will have traditional command operations set up near the Venice Beach LAPD substation with a full deployment of beach, patrol, motor and mounted units!
Saturday:
10 a.m. - Muscle Beach Raw Bench Press Contest. Womens, Mens, Teens
1 p.m. - The SUMO Classic
Sunday: Rumble In Venice Boxing Championship - 25 amateur bouts
10:00 a.m.
Monday: Venice Beach International Classic & Armed Forces Championship
Pre-judging at 10 a.m.

On Sunday, I watched as LAPD, did something that I haven’t seen before. They told People on the bike path that they needed to get off and allow the bikes to move freely. I also watched as LAPD Swat officers moved marijuana smokers off the Main Drag, to the area east of Ocean Front Walk. I am impressed, surprised and happy, that LAPD is finally taking the time early in the Season, to direct people to either obey the laws, or move off the boardwalk. I commend LAPD (shock ) on the extraordinarily appropriate handling of the Public. Thanks LAPD, I hope it works.
