Today around 5:30 p.m. a middle-aged Hispanic male, wearing dress pants, loafers and a button down shirt was severely beaten in the Ocean Front Walk bathrooms by the basketball courts. Apparently someone trying to use the restrooms opened the door and found the man covered in blood on the ground. His face was beaten so badly it was completely swollen. He did not appear to speak English, and was transported to the hospital by paramedics. Nobody in the very busy boardwalk area heard or saw anything, not that you can hear much at the volume that the local pipe shop ( which should not be operating within 500 ft of a City Park ) was blasting their music.
My gf was the 1 who opened the door and seen the guy first… befor then it didn’t look like anything happened in the bathroom. Honesly he could of been laying in that bathroom stall for like 30 mins for all I know. I walked pass the bathroom befor I went to the bathroom and went to another stall on the other side and when I was done my girl was yelling for me to come see and help. Sometimes I wish the cops weren’t around, in this case I wish they were around to protect tis poor guy. Well he had a rolex and a huge pinkey ring. Probably not a good idea to wear if u rollin alone.
He apparently didn’t speak English, and I didn’t hear any follow up on his condition. I know the calls were coming all day, and just after that incident all units that were scheduled to go off-duty about an hour later were held over for a few hours because there were so many police calls. I just can’t believe nobody heard anything.. the bathrooms were packed all day long. Such a bummer.

They seemed so slow at helping this poor man. It looked
Like he had been robbed and beaten in the bathroom at
Venice.
