As of February 5th, 2011 the City of Los Angeles is updating the rules and regulations for the Venice Beach Boardwalk Vending and Public Expression Program Rules. Enforcement of all appropriate program rules that are not impacted by the recent court injunction are maintained by the LA Department of Parks & Recreation and LAPD. Until the new revised program rules are available, we are publishing the prior list of program rules. Please note the following two exceptions:
A recent court injunction impacted two primary changes to the rules which include:
(1) There is no longer a lottery system for designating spaces to individuals
(2) Amplified music may be used in any space, in accordance with existing municipal noise levels.
For the full rules and regulations for vending hand crafted items on Venice Beach please review the current vending ordinance.
At this time, all spaces for vending and expression are on a “first come, first served” basis. Vending hours are from 9:00 a.m. until sunset. On weekends, many vendors and artists are lining up to claim spaces as early at 2 a.m. For more information click here. Please note that the park rules and local ordinances are still enforceable.
