Be cognizant of your surroundings if you feel uneasy about where you parked your vehicle, move it your instincts are most likely right. Whenever your vehicles are
unattended lock and secure all doors, windows and vents. GTA suspects often do not need to break in they often gain entry through unlocked doors. Attempt to park in well-lit areas with heavy pedestrian traffic. If you park in public parking lots do not tell the attendant how long you intend to be away. Please contact the Los Angeles Police Department at (877) ASK- LAPD, to report any suspicious activity or 911 to report any crimes in progress.

Your garden is an attractive opportunity for thieves, and is often easier for them to access. Make sure you lock and secure valuables in a good quality storage shed or garage, do not forget your garden tools and ladders can easily be used to break into your home.

During this rating period Burglary (Residential/Business)) has become a problem in our area. Overall crime has increased in several categories but residential burglary has become our number one nemesis. Home security and common sense go hand in hand when it comes to protecting your property. Always keep your doors locked even when you are home. Use deadbolt locks on sturdy doors and door frames. Secure sliding glass doors with track locks for added protection. Install ample lighting around your property and place them out of reach so bulbs cannot be easily broken. If you observe any suspicious activity or an altercation in progress call the police right away.
Insurance Safety Tips:
It is important to prepare for the worst, so be sure you have adequate insurance to cover any losses should you be unfortunate enough to have your home broken into while you are away. Be sure to purchase insurance from a reputable company and read the small print.

During this rating period Theft (Petty) has become a problem in our area. Overall crime has remained low but we have increased slightly in several categories. Petty theft is the taking of property without owners consent. Petty theft is often a crime of opportunity for suspects meaning they remove items that have been left unsecured by their owners. Teach family members to place items of value back in storage bins or garage when they finish with them. Leaving tools and toys lying around your property only tempts petty theft suspects to remove your valuables. Anyone whom observes an attack in progress calls the police right away and helps protect a life from being destroyed.
Neighborhood Security Safety Tips:
Do a neighborhood security survey; make sure all street lights are working properly. Parks and playgrounds should not have overgrown trees and shrubs that suspects can use to hide behind while they wait on their next victim.
