**UPDATE** Shooting was NOT gang related. Suspect was released. No weapon recovered. BTW don’t cheat on your girlfriend, especially if she is packing heat.
At around 6:30 p.m. shots rang out in front of Thomas’ Burger on Lincoln near the the Whole Foods parking lot. Multiple witnesses reported seeing a male black, 25 years immediately fleeing the area on foot across Rose, over some fences and through the alley on Flower. An LAPD motor officer was right near the intersection and also saw the suspect flee. He was apprehended at 7th and Sunset, and was positively ID’d by several witnesses. One witness saw him with a weapon in his hand.
At the scene it was reported that there was broken glass all over the area where the shooting took place. They believe that the suspect fired at a car which broke some windows in the vehicle as it fled. It is unknown if there was a victim inside the vehicle.
A perimeter was set up and the suspect was held until the K9 unit arrived to search for the weapon. They began their active search at around 7:15 p.m. The suspect was transferred to Pacific Station for processing. Area hospitals will be on the lookout for anyone coming in suffering from a gunshot wound… as these situations seem to go.
Officers that witnessed the suspect flee trace his steps looking for the weapon.
