205 Vending & Performance Spaces - ~176 Have To Change Or Leave When 42.15 Is Enforced

It was an overcast Saturday, but since the vendors were out in force and the boardwalk was busy I decided to count all the spaces and vendors and see how many will no longer be able to vend as they are when the new 42.15 ordinance is enforced.

Of the 205 spaces, many vendors set up in spaces that are not permitted as actual spaces. I counted them as vendors and when the count was done, 176 of the spaces and areas occupied by vendors were selling “nominal use” merchandise that will no longer be permitted for sale or display on the Boardwalk. Mostly T-Shirts, mass produced art and jewelry. Going to be an empty place unless they all take up new arts that fall within the specifications of ordinance.

Only 9 spaces had performers or vendors that fit within the new ordinance.

Screw the vendors. All they do is rip people off. Take advantage of tourist and sell drugs. Thank god there going. I remember once a henna tatto vendor sexually assaulted a minor while giving a henna tatto. Wtf is that shit? How crooked and dirty are these people. Than they steal from local businesses that pay real taxes. And resell the stolen goods and dont have to pay taxes. And then they call it a “donation”. They are a bunch of dirty crooked thiefs. And most of them are homeless crackheads making that cash to support there addictions. Its bs and they make a bad name for the beach!

Thanks for the informative artical as to the new 42.15. I am new to this site. The other Venice site was extremely confusing about how this information was presented. Lots of crazy opinions that make no sense.

Thank you Los Angeles, finally you are doing what needs to be done to run Venice like a normal place.

I’m curious, what vendors will be allowed in the permitted spaces. I was under the impression that all merchandise was considered to be of “nominal use”. Can anyone clarify?.
