Holiday Upsurge In Crime - Another Armed Robbery At 4 a.m. - 2 Men Each With A Gun

At around 4:30 a.m. a female was the victim of armed robbery on 23rd Ave in Venice. Two men, male blacks in their 20′s, each armed with a gun held the woman up and stole her purse, cell phone and cash. They fled on foot southbound on Pacific Ave. An LAPD airship was on scene within 5 minutes and had no sight of suspects. It is believed they may have had a vehicle.

The holidays are notorious for an upsurge in burglary, robbery and theft from vehicles, not to mention domestic violence. Venice is known as “candyland” for robbers and burglars as many in the community are considered to work in the industry, and own lots of apple products, fancy cell phones and carry a lot of cash.

  • If you are out, day or night, it is encouraged that you do NOT use your cell phone. You are automatically distracted and are an easier target for having your purse or wallet stolen.
  • If you are walking your dogs, especially at night, do NOT talk on your cell or wear headphones.
  • Crime can happen at any moment. Clearly the two robbers were waiting for a victim.
  • Be aware and BE SAFE!
