Winter Shelter Opening Early Goes To Final Approval

In the monthly meeting today of Venice Boardwalk business owners, bill Rosendahl and Captain Peters addressed the new vending ordinance and opening the Winter shelter early. The CD11 office still needs the backing and vote to get the process finalized despite the funding resources being available. Last year the early cold snap brought up various issues regarding the homeless, bathrooms and resource programs. Although the Councilman said the allocated funds include dollars for “wrap around” services like mental health treatment, the reality is budgets are being cut and resources going forward are likely to decline. Progress is being made however to officially designate Ocean Front Walk as what everyone knows it is- part of the park. This will enable the City Attorney an LAPD to take a more derivative stance on enforcing a myriad of municipal codes that businesses and residents have been pushing for over the past year.
