Taggers hit the retaining wall at Ozone and Pacific, and while we were out there painting over that several neighbors came over to let us know about a homeless encampment that has been growing in the empty lot on Ozone. The property owner and LA City 311 have both been notified, but the mess persists. According to neighbors the owner has been cited on numerous occasions but continues to neglect the property.
We stayed to clean up the encampment which was riddled with needles, empty “medical marijuana” containers, some pried open kryptonite U-locks, rotted food and tons of smoking paraphernalia. With the leaves, branches and cardboard piled up to enclose the area, it was a fire waiting to happen. Graffiti was covered, and you can see in the photo above we had quite the haul of trash and debris. The area is now clean, and all the graffiti along the walkstreet was covered too. Thanks to Anna and Theo, the local neighbors who came out and asked for help cleaning. It looks a lot better!
