The LAPD Scanner radio call:
Check this out on Chirbit
On Thursday night a call was broadcast over the LAPD police scanner about a missing 14 yr old girl from out of town, with a dead cell phone. She was last seen on Ocean Front Walk and Windward, and when the call came out the sun had just gone down…
Her family, LAPD, helicopters and citizens started combing the Piers from Venice to Santa Monica, the beach and all along to boardwalk trying to find the girl. It was a particularly busy night for LAPD at the time, but they put a mass of effort towards locating the girl. She was located about two hours later. Tony Vera was on the scene as police were searching for her, and when she was reunited with her family.
Almost every day in the Summer numerous children are reported missing. It is VERY important to try and take a photograph with your cell phone of any group before you head down to the beach. Two months ago a child was reported missing and was gone for hours with no sight or sign of him. His uncle had taken him and his cousins to the beach to play and ride in the skate park. The 9 yr old boy went missing and LAPD combed the beach for hours. It turned out the child was 25 ft away the entire time, at the skate park. The uncle just gave a totally inaccurate description of what the boy was wearing. These details are critically important when a child goes missing. Also, if you take a photo of your family or group before you leave, it helps law enforcement if there is an unfortunate event such as a missing child, as a photo with exactly what the child or person was wearing can be distributed to all searching parties via cell phone to further the ability to find them.
