Saturday night police were called to Pacific and Washington for a report of a auto hit and run. Soon, multiple calls came in and officers got a visual on the vehicle and followed it to Lincoln. The vehicle stopped and the passenger bailed out to flee, and was quickly apprehended. The driver continued on, at one point put the vehicle in reverse to come at the officers, got into another collision and then the driver bailed out of the vehicle engaging officers in a multi-block foot pursuit around the area of Glencoe and Maxella.
The suspect ducked into a garage port and tried to hide. An airship was called and K-9 units and LAPD set up a perimeter around several blocks to contain the suspect. While police were locking down the area, the plates of the vehicle the suspects were in were run, and the owner of the car was notified. The victim was asleep when Marina Del Rey Sheriffs knocked on her door, only to learn that while she was sleeping, the two suspects, both males in their 20′s, broke into her home and stole several items, including her keys and car.
The suspect hiding in the garage port was flushed out by a K9 unit. Upon exiting he was hit in the ankle with a bean bag gun to prevent him from fleeing again. From what was heard on the scanner, an ambulance was called reporting that he was having a seizure…but he apparently was faking the seizure and was fine when the ambulance arrived. Both 20 yr old suspect were taken into custody. Charges will include burglary, grand theft auto, home invasion, attempted assault on a police officer and evading arrest.
