While I am not a fan of the term “community policing” I do think that community involvement in keeping your neighborhood clean and reporting all crime and suspicious activity is critically important. With City budgets being slashed across the nation, communities need to work together to thwart crime.
Unfortunately the gang related shooting that resulted from the huge crowd summoned via social media early in 2011 has become one of the National examples of social media related crime. It isn’t just used to summon a crowd. Law enforcement is now combing social media sites like Facebook and Twitter after crimes, as criminals don’t seem to be able to keep their mouths shut after doing no good.
