The City took a survey today on Ocean Front Walk, but they weren’t asking people questions - they were checking property lines. Enforcement has become a difficult task on Ocean Front Walk with the changes to the vending ordinance. While everyone is still waiting on the new signs to be printed and hung informing people of the proper protocol in the “P” and “I” Zones, the boardwalk has become a free-for-all. It isn’t just the vending spaces though… merchants along the east side have been encroaching on the sidewalk and on City land, expanding seating for their restaurants, placing items out in front of their stores for sale, or hawking weed.
The survey of property lines, which has been conducted over the past several weeks, will allow the city to properly mark areas designated for westside vending, and eastside merchants. City land not designated for these uses will no longer be up for unlicensed or unpermitted use, and citations will be written.
