UPDATE: Pacific Division Officer Injured In Police Chase Where Suspects Fired On LAPD In Westchester

Gunfire erupted today between two suspects and LAPD Pacific Division Officers at Alverstone and 85th in Westchester. A car chase ensued, where two suspects were taken into custody. Shots were fired from multiple locations as the suspects tried to escape, and a search was on for additional suspects. All traffic from La Tierja, to Airport to Manchester has been shut down in both directions for investigation.

More from the LA Times:
Two reputed gang members were arrested Monday by Los Angeles police after firing on undercover officers and leading police on a brief chase in Westchester, LAPD officials said.

No officers were hurt in the 1:30 p.m. incident near the intersection of Ramsgate Avenue near Interceptor Street as plainclothes officers in an undercover car were stopped at a sign, said Cmdr. Andy Smith of the Los Angeles Police Department.

One of the men in a car pulled up next to them and asked the officers “Where you from?” Smith said.

The suspects then pulled their car in front of the officers’ vehicle, and one of the suspects leaned out their front passenger window and opened fire with a pistol, police said.

The officers returned fire and the suspects got back in their car and drove off.

The officers called for backup, and the suspects were pursued to 84th Street and Alverstone Avenue, where they were taken into custody without incident.
