As if we all couldn’t have guessed, the ever-present Kush Dr. on Ocean Front Walk has moved their expanding enterprise over to the spaces that are reserved for artists and free speech.
Since the lottery injunction, the City of LA has been doing its best to coordinate implementing a new draft of the vending ordinance, and getting signs in place on the boardwalk so people know what the rules and procedures are. Until that happens, enforcement which resides between LAPD and Parks and Recreation is next to impossible, and nobody wants more litigation.
So what we have had is a free for all. Sales of commercial merchandise, illegal food and fruit vendors that are completely unregulated, and transients setting up in spaces to sell items freshly dug out of the trash.
The setup of the Kush Dr. however… just goes to far. If they apply their current retails strategy to this, you’ll probably see them in every other vending space along Ocean Front Walk.
