68-year-old man is shot with Taser, beanbag gun after he allegedly tries to attack LAPD officers

As tweeted by Venice 311 at 5:12 a.m. on March 4th, a 68-year-old man sustained fractures in the bones around his eyes and two broken ribs after a violent confrontation with Los Angeles police officers.

Michael Lasky was shot multiple times with a Taser device and a non-lethal beanbag shotgun early Friday after he allegedly tried to use his vehicle to ram officers in their patrol cars, the Los Angeles Police Department said. The incident occurred in the Pacific station area near Culver City on Centinela Rd. Lasky was seen driving erratically and led officers on a short chase. He then tried to hit the officers with his vehicle before crashing.

Officers smashed Lasky’s windows to remove him from the vehicle after he refused commands to exit his vehicle, according to police.

During the confrontation, Lasky urged his pit bull mix to attack the officers, the LAPD said. The dog was inside the vehicle.

Lasky fled in his vehicle and was later apprehended in Culver City. His dog escaped the vehicle and ran into a local neighbors yard requiring animal control to come and retrieve it. He was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
