Today a transient female with a pit bull lost control of the animal and it became vicious at the skate park. LAPD was called to the scene where the owner struggled to subdue the dog. Police had to unfortunately pepper spray the animal. The owner and victim said the dog had been her sons and he could not control it so she took care of the animal. She was able to tie the animal to a palm tree while animal services where en route. The dog was given food and water to subdue it. When animal control arrived the animal who had open wounds on its tried to attack the animal control officer.

The victim and owner was taken to a local hospital for wounds to her hands suffered while trying to contain the animal. She threw the dogs papers out of the back of the paramedic truck and said take the animal and give these to someone who cares.
Unfortunately because of the attack the animal will be euthanized. This brings to light the difficulties faced by the growing number of transients that take up animals as pets. Many state that they receive more money from panhandling when they have an animal, yet because of their living conditions they are not able to properly care for the animals when they need medical treatment or care.
