Huge Crowds Mark Early Summer Season On Boardwalk

Thousands crowded the Venice Boardwalk yesterday marking an early arrival to the Summer season of Venice Boardwalk vending. LAPD had their hands full with a massive drumming and performance group that came with the intention of overtaking Windward Circle. A compromise with a ten minute performance while the organizers were informed of the performance rules and public safety hazards of diverting huge crowds off the City sidewalks was amicably resolved, as the weekend crackdown on illegal boardwalk vending continued. Illegal sales of puppies, pets, unlicensed fruit vendors with no health permits ( which have resulted in reported illnesses ) take business away from the Boardwalk merchants and vendors that operate lawfully, and they pose a significant risk to the public.

It was one of the most beautiful days on record however. Parking lots filled up early, traffic control was called in around noon for Washington Blvd north to Rose for parking overflow issues as everyone migrated towards the beach. A young girl sustained a head injury requiring stitches when a rogue skateboard went flying out of the bowl and struck her in the head as the skate park drew massive crowds of spectators, as did the roller disco area.

Sunday promises to be another beautiful day. Get to the beach early and enjoy the day! ( Forecast calls for rain next weekend )
