Last night around 2 a.m. a man reportedly was the victim of an armed robbery on Abbot Kinney. He said a male black in a knit cap approached him to rob him, and then shot him in the upper thigh with a 9mm handgun. The victim then drove himself to the hospital. There are few other details at this time. Sources have said it is unusual for the victim of a shooting to drive themselves to the hospital, most call police. The incident is under investigation. More when we hear it.

VENICE (KTLA) — A man was hospitalized after a gunman jumped in his car, demanded money and shot him outside a popular Venice bar Saturday.
The shooting happened outside the Brig on the 1500 block of Abbot Kinney Blvd. shortly after 1:30 a.m.
The victim had just approached his Mercedes in the parking lot adjacent to the bar when he was approached by a man with a gun. The suspect then entered the passenger’s side of the car and pointed the gun at the victim as he demanded money.
According to police, the victim resisted, and that’s when the gunman shot him in the leg
The victim drove himself to a nearby hospital where he was taken into surgery Saturday morning.
The suspect fled the scene on foot. He is described as a black male in his 20s or 30s wearing a beanie cap.
