Police responded to an unruly group at Breeze and Ocean Front Walk on Thursday evening. When the group was asked to disperse, a male in the group engaged with the officers and was subdued with pepper spray and cuffed. Backup units were requested at the scene as the crowd continued to be unruly and were rousting the officers engaged in the arrest. An air unit was called and several backup units responded. A female at the scene tried to intervene and was also subdued and detained. The male has been arrested for physically engaging with LAPD in the past. Both were taken into custody. Part of the group continued to verbally engage police throughout the incident until the scene was cleared.
