SOLVED! All the trash photographed in the gallery below has been removed. There is already a shopping cart filled with debris in one of the spots, but yesterday over-sized trash removed the following from a 2 block span of Flower Ct.
- 6 Mattresses
- 2 Sofas
- 2 Love Seats
- 1 Recliner
- 2 Dressers
- 1 Large Cabinet
Thanks to the local residents for reporting this to us using our online “Report Grime n’ Crime” Form!
Take a spin around Venice, and you won’t need to travel far before seeing a mattress, sofa, or some other large bulky piece of furniture discarded on a sidewalk or alley.
Many think they are doing someone a favor, or they think that “someone” will want what is now, to them, trash - so on the curb or sidewalk it goes. One day in the elements makes almost any piece of furniture undesirable, so there it sits.
We have called for bulky item pick up at Flower Ct. many times, and it continues to pile up. Some residents in the area have reported that building managers in the area are allowing items to be “stored” on their property by the area homeless, causing fire and building hazards.
The amount of debris on Flower Ct. yesterday was astounding. We took away three large queen sized mattresses, but there was just too much for us to deal with in one day so we made a report to sanitation. They are scheduled to come out tomorrow. We’ll go by later in the day to report and hopefully have some great “after” photos. What is funny is when you look at the most offensive area on Google Maps, even the “street view” photo on record shows furniture dumped there.
Remember, if you see oversized trash just make a grime & crime report here, or send an email to [email protected].
