LAPD Airship Gets LoJack Hit On Stolen Car – Pursuit Ensues & Ends Crashed Into Venice Pier

LAPD Airships have many cool gizmos on board, one of which is a very sensitive LoJack detector. Monday night around 9:30 p.m. they picked up a hit on a car that had been freshly stolen out of SouthWest Division this morning. The airship alerted patrol units on the ground, and the vehicle was approached by LAPD Pacific Division near Slauson & Braddock. When officers lit it up to perform a stop, it failed to yield and led officers on a pursuit down Washington Blvd – blowing through traffic lights and finally jumping a curb at the parking lot entrance to Venice Pier. The suspect bailed out of the car while it was running, and tried to escape on foot. The vehicle, still in drive, crashed into Venice Pier. The suspect was caught quickly and taken to jail.

Here is the audio of the entire pursuit and capture.
