UPDATE: According to CBS News – the swimmer pulled from the water is in serious condition.
At 9:45 P.M. LAPD was flagged down at Speedway & Washington where two people said they jumped off the pier into the water with their friend, two swam out – the other person didn’t. An LAPD airship and LA County Lifeguards were called to the scene to look for the other person. The big Coast Guard rescue helicopter was called – as they can retrieve people from the water ( which they do exercised for off the shore here all the time ). That unit was at least 10 minutes before being able to take off. The LAPD airship located the person in the water and the LA County Lifeguards fished him out. He looked to be conscious and breathing per the airship. LAFD had the call listed as a drowning…. lucky for this fool. The audio of the airship reporting that he was fished out is below…. Don’t forget Venice, on July 4th 2010 Brian Dunn was drinking and thought it would be a good idea to jump off the pier with his friends. His body was recovered from the water on July 11th. DON’T JUMP OFF THE PIER!
