This was written by a very good friend of mine on Facebook. He served our country, as did his father who has passed. Many recognize Memorial Day as an extra day off, but the intent is to remember those who died in their service to our Nation in the armed forces. Those who took the pledge to die protecting us, and our Country, and did.
“Thousands of flags are now being placed at the Riverside National Cemetery in preparation for Mondays events. If you’ve never been to a Memorial Day event at a National Cemetery I suggest you make the drive and see what the men and women of our Armed Forces have done for you by paying the ultimate sacrifice. Even if its only for an hour, just go. There will be enough time to enjoy that beer and BBQ.” – G.H.
The closest National Cemetery (of Los Angeles) is 8 miles from Venice. It will be open tomorrow if you would like to check it out before whatever plans you have for the day.
