BURGLARIES 9/2-9/8
We observed a cluster of burglaries along the Manchester Corridor, the Venice Corridor West of Lincoln, along with a cluster in the Palms area. The majority of these burglaries were by forced entry. Normally only half are by forced entry and the other half are from unlocked doors and windows. Hopefully this means people are getting the message to lock their doors and windows.Regarding forced entry burglaries there are a few things that can be done to help protect your home.
1) Security / Alarm Systems can be a good deterrent
2) A Dog is a great deterrent
3) Deadbolt doors
4) Use additional locking mechanisms on windows
5) Surveillance Cameras help us catch criminals, and most relatively cheap systems can be set up to alarm you, and let you view your cameras from a smart phone.

Two burglary arrests were made this week. Officers on patrol in the Venice Beach area heard an audible alarm sounding and searched the immediate area. The officers observed two suspects who appeared to be suspicious and were checking the door handle of a home. When officers stopped, one suspect dumped a handgun in the bushes. Both suspects were taken into custody.

The second arrest was made when a resident arrived home and observed a suspect in her kitchen eating marshmallows. The suspect left the residence and the victim realized that her property had been taken. The victim contacted the police and the officers apprehended the suspect in the area. The officers recovered the property that had been taken from the residence along with a bag of marshmallows.
