Last Wednesday burglars broke into a home on the 800 Block of Angelus – helped themselves to one of the owners green Eagle Creek suitcases while packing it full of the owners stuff. They got away with a PS3, games, jewelry and other misc items. The owner had the backpack portion of the suitcase shown above, but the thieves got away with the rest. They hopped the rear fence, and although there was a security bar on the window, it was cracked just a teeny bit because of the heat and that was just enough to let the burglars pry it open.
A neighbor that heard the thieves leaving wrote: “I just heard some voices about 4 minutes ago in the alley between Angelus and Crestmoore and when I went out to look, two sweaty black guys said, “Ok, c’mon, lets go” and bolted up toward Grandview holding a big hunter green camping-sized backpack(?) and by the time I got my gate open to get a picture, they were outta sight. They were running and panting. One chubby guy had cornrows and both were wearing plaid shirts. These guys are not neighbors or garbage sifters…and this seem to be the hour when we are getting hit!”
They hit the house after the owners had gone to work. If you see anyone with this type of suitcase or hustling any of the described items call LAPD Pacific Station at 310-482-6334.
Remember folks, even with security bars an open window in the back of a house is easy pickins for bad guys. Lock up – and if you see something weird, well, weirder than normal for Venice – call the cops! Ain’t no shame in it.
