Sooooo, while running errands today I received a twitter message from a local saying he saw a man with a large cammo backpack trying doorknobs to houses along Rivera & Main. This is a huge daytime crime issue, especially among a crowd of criminals that have nothing to lose. Twitter-er & local @RedStarFilms sent me a message after unsuccessfully trying to discourage the suspect and unsuccessfully dialing the police. We put the tweet out, called LAPD also and gave the suspects last known location. LAPD found the suspect, and he was detained. LAPD then learned that although having been recently released from prison (not jail, – prison) – he had an outstanding warrant. And away he went… courtesy of our local awesome LAPD patrol officers. Net result – this jerk doesn’t have your laptop!
Even though that tweet communique was between me and a fellow-twitter-er …. it could have easily happened between any two people who choose to SEE SOMETHING AND SAY SOMETHING in an effort to reduce crime in our hood. High-five @RedStarFilms! Here is a link to their website!
