UPDATE: So I guess while I was going to and fro from the advanced firecracker incident, other devices were being detonated around the area also. Never a dull moment in this freak show huh? The very nice Sergeant who filled us in on the situation also told us that if they had caught the person this is still a low grade crime in the scheme of things. Still kind of a BS move to mess up someones car. Also not really comforting that some clown is making these things. Hopefully it isn’t a gateway device to something bigger.
Tonight local residents heard what they thought were gunshots or a loud explosion and made multiple calls to LAPD. When the cops arrived they saw evidence of an explosion and a lot of smoke. LAPD locked down the area and called in the bomb squad. Net result: homemade gun powder fueled explosive not thought to be targeted towards an individual. Hopefully the prankster is well on their way to Burning Man by now. Sorry mid-sized boring red car. You didn’t deserve it… Met some awesome fellow neighbors! Sleep well Venice!
